A Message from Jim Russell:
Thanks to all who supported my campaign and voted for me! I will continue to be an advocate for the critical issues that we raised. You can contact me if you would like to help.
Although I didn’t win the election, I’m pleased that I received 80,498 votes, or 32%, which is a higher percentage than any other candidate who ran against Nita Lowey over the past decade received.
Contributing factors include McCain’s loss and an increase of 15,957 Democrat voters in the 18th Congressional District from November 2006 to November 2008 while Republican enrollment declined by 217.
Lowey spent over a million dollars, while I spent about ten thousand dollars—most of which came from my personal savings. This is a ratio of over 100 to 1. You can still help me pay for campaign expenses by making a contribution now.

Election Update
The economy has been at the forefront of Congressional races • Oct 30th
“Nita M. Lowey, 71, a Democrat who represents the 18th Congressional District, which includes portions of Westchester and Rockland Counties, told the crowd at the Yonkers library that “the most important thing we need to do is stabilize the economy.”
She is being challenged by the Republican Jim Russell, 54, a computer consultant
from Hawthorne. His main campaign themes include fiscal control and immigration
control. He said he is opposed to military aid to any foreign country.” NY
